TRIATLAS just concluded an exciting experiment: its first online science conference on tropical Atlantic climate and marine ecosystems. It was an exciting three half-days of science talks and poster sessions, with more than 150 people registered participants from Europe, Africa, South America, and from North America and other continents.
It was great to see attendance of around 80-90 participants at plenary sessions, with plenty of discussion including in the chat window. We even had an online ice breaker for informal discussion.
Can you spot some colleagues in the unusual group photo?
With this type of event, there is an increasing realization that these types of meeting can provide an excellent supplement to in person meetings, with the potential to include more people and to increase integration of research. Special thanks to Nilgun for all the hard work in organising the meeting, and to Andreas for the wonderful support.
